Massage Styles
Swedish
Swedish Massage is the most
popular style of massage in the
U.S.. It is designed for the purpose
of establishing and maintaining
good health through a systematic
and scientific manipulation of the
soft tissues of the body. It is a
relaxing experience for most and
may include some guided
stretching, kneading, tapping, and
rocking. It is performed on a
massage table with the client
covered by a sheet or towels. Most
often therapists add techniques
learned in other styles of massage
to compliment this style of
massage. It is a full-body relaxing
massage.
Hot Stone
Hot Stone Massage uses hot and
cold stones placed in specific areas
of the body to sooth and ease
tightness. The heat in the stones
slowly penetrates the muscles
allowing for deeper relaxation. This
is a deeply soothing style of
massage.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue Massage is also known
as Clinical or Medical Massage and
is often requested by those looking
to relieve aches and pains. It
involves slow deep muscle
stretches and cross fiber friction
and may include trigger point
therapy. While many may think
"deep" means more or better, it is
really a different style of massage
and may or may not be what you
need. This style of massage is great
for rehabilitation as it targets
specific muscles.
Ear Candling
Ear Candles are used to clean ears. The
practice of using ear candles is an
ancient art and is becoming increasingly
more popular as it's benefits are being
more widely known. It is a generally
more comfortable and less expensive
than conventional methods. It has also
been known to help with sinus issues
and some types of headaches.
